Your requirements are our main focus - from selecting equipment for transporting all kinds of items, such as wooden tracks, steel constructions, machine components, cubicles, containers, pre-cast concrete products, machines and much more, to loading and securing, and all the way to our professional unloading process. And throughout all this we use state-of-the-art technology and complete extensive preparations in order to achieve outstanding quality.
Nowadays, the company is managed by the second and third generation in the form of Josef, Frank and Melanie Knöbel. Our vehicles are used throughout the whole of Europe.
Our automotive mechanics make sure our entire vehicle fleet is up to scratch, even working throughout the night if necessary. We have our own pit and test stand for brakes, meaning it is easy for us to quickly perform general inspections, as well as any maintenance work, on a regular basis. Vehicles with a loading crane
Our trucks with loading cranes are kitted out with garage supports on the trailer, extendable up to 3.65 m, a container locking mechanism, access ramps, stanchions and wheel recesses, among other things. We have a total of 9 crane trucks in our fleet and we would be happy to take care of any crane work you many need in the future. We look forward to hearing from you.
A one-stop shop for both loading and unloading
Thanks to our fleet of modern crane trucks equipped with loading cranes, we are able to both transport your items, as well as unload them by crane. Our cranes can lift to a height of 20 m and extend outwards to a radius of up to 25 m. Each of our crane trucks is also kitted out with a trailer, meaning we can move things such as containers or complete building site equipment.

Partial and full container loads
We have our own large fleet of vehicles, meaning our services are flexible and thanks to our optimal scheduling, we are able to transport both partial and full container loads. Thanks to our wealth of experience in the domain of specialised and heavy-duty transport, as well as our widespread partner network both in Germany and abroad, we are able to quickly react to customer requirements, finding the best solution for their transport needs and then carrying out the specialised transportation process. In doing so, we either use vehicles from our own fleet, or those from sub-contractors, depending on the country or region.
Cargo transportation
Your cargo is in the best hands with us.
Regardless of whether it’s a matter of small packages or palletised goods, we make sure each piece of cargo quickly reaches its intended destination safe and sound. In doing so, we work in close collaboration with our partners who, for the most part, take over this transportation process. Our logistics network is large and extends to include contacts both in Germany and abroad. We are able to distribute cargo to all our connections across Germany, as well as in neighbouring countries, within a 24/48-hour period. So don’t hesitate to ask us about transporting your cargo!
Mobile crane services
Our partner Mediaco is the largest company in France to offer mobile crane services and in 2016 they opened a branch at our premises in Umkirch. As such, we are also able to provide you with a one-stop shop for mobile crane services, in addition to your other transport needs. Therefore, you can ask us to complete the entire process for your special and heavy-duty transport. From the organisation through to the planning and implementation processes for mobile crane services, we are on hand to provide you with help and support. We can provide you with a quote for services with a 40-tonne city crane all the way to a 1000-tonne crane. Don’t hesitate to contact us.
Customs services
As we are situated close to the Swiss border, we are here to provide help and advice on any queries you may have concerning customs as a matter of course. We can provide you with support when preparing customs documentation, or we can even complete this task for you together with your customs broker.
Obtaining authorisation
As we are constantly liaising with many important authorities both in Germany and abroad, we can guarantee an expeditious process for receiving authorisation. However, new applications are high in number and authorities are often overexerted, meaning it may currently take up to 4 weeks to receive authorisation if you are new to the process. What’s more, every one of the trucks in our fleet has been granted permanent authorisation to transport goods up to a width of 3 m within Germany, France and Switzerland. And our wide range of permanent authorisations means we are often able to meet tight deadlines for heavy-duty and specialised transport.
traffic management
If a form of transport exceeds normal dimensions, government directives stipulate what should be done on the road before a heavy load can set off on its journey. It is possible that Knöbel Specialised Transport may have to dismantle or set up traffic signs, traffic lights and other traffic management equipment. Road infrastructure should be preserved and as soon as the heavy-duty or specialised transport has passed a location, the road should be put back in its original state for the next traffic that passes through. However, there is more to ‘traffic management’ than the measures mentioned above; if greenery, shrubbery or even entire trees have had to be removed for heavy-duty or specialised transport to pass, Knöbel Specialised Transport has to replant and restore the land after the transportation process has been completed. Transport escorts, escort vehicles 2 and 3
The term ‘escort vehicle’ means a vehicle which is appropriately equipped to accompany another vehicle carrying a heavy load in order to provide it with protection from behind (to warn the following traffic and prevent them from overtaking), or from the front in order to make sure there is enough road space for it to pass. Escort vehicles may occasionally be used as a replacement for police protection. Our escort vehicles are equipped with a traffic signal unit and have been inspected and approved. Where required, we can also make our team and 3rd generation escort vehicles available to you.
Managing transport with Webfleet
All our vehicles are equipped with a telematics system.
We are in constant contact with our trucks as data is exchanged via a mobile connection. As such, it is quick and easy for us to inform the driver of any last-minute changes to a client’s order and they can then react to these demands immediately. Furthermore, we can always tell you where exactly our truck is located at that very moment. As we are constantly monitoring our trucks’ locations, any costly idle time is significantly reduced. What’s more, it is possible to monitor the legal driving and rest times and make use of them in an optimal manner.
